Welcome, Archaeologist.

A compelling comparison is not proof of ancient history. We need people who can examine artifacts, sites, dates, and context without stretching the record. Help identify what is documented, what is merely comparable, and what evidence is missing.

THE EVIDENCE CASE FILE

Your investigation assignment

Assess securely dated evidence for ancient dams, canals, reservoirs, irrigation, mills, and related technologies. Evaluate chronology, geography, material context, and whether comparisons are historically meaningful.

Your first challenge

What archaeological evidence would be necessary to support a historical connection—and what does the existing record actually show?

What you can bring to the crew

  • Archaeology, archaeometry, ancient technology, or material-culture expertise
  • Knowledge of chronology, site context, dating, and source quality
  • Evidence that supports, limits, or contradicts proposed historical parallels
Your role matters

You're not here to defend a conclusion.

GEI is a proposed interpretive framework under investigation. Your contribution may support a comparison, narrow its limits, identify a better explanation, or show that an idea does not hold up. All of those outcomes are useful.
